My acting career has been on hold because my daughter was diagnosed ASD with a Speech Language Processing disorder at 3 years old in the middle of Covid. She is now happy, healthy and thriving so I am very excited to begin acting again. Thank you for your consideration.

I have been directing and performing in Seattle area theaters since 2006. I am a graduate of the Roosevelt High School theatre program under Ruben Van Kempen, and then studied acting methods and film acting at New York Film Academy. In 2009 I co-founded STAGEright Theatre, and we produced 21 shows from 2009-2017. In addition to performing, directing and producing, I'm also a theatrical photographer. I am now working for ~7 different theatres shooting their production photos. I've linked that webpage below.

In recent years I have been had limited time for theatre, due to having a young daughter. She's getting older now and it's easier for me to commit to projects, and I'm excited to return. This year I'm hoping to move my focus more toward dramatic plays and less musicals. Scene study
and deep text analysis is my jam, and I have accepted an understudy role in RED at Burien Actors Theatre in April. I think it will be a great step in the right direction.

Jessica Marvin-Romero

Email:Email hidden; Javascript is required.

Jessica Marvin-Romero (she/her) is a lesbian Mexican-American actress and poet. Having graduated from Temple University with a degree in theatre and an English minor, she is informed by the boundlessness of language as it works in storytelling and as a conduit for the things we must futilely attempt to translate for others from nothing more than a feeling in the bones. Interested in bilingual works, as well as those with poetic influence, Marvin-Romero strives to create theatre which brings Latine folks, queer people, and gender minorities to the forefront. She states, "As an artist, I’ve long been exploring how we go away from ourselves to then be able to come back. How hearing my aunts giggling over coffee in my grandmother’s kitchen is a play I got to watch every summer. How looking at photographs on the living room floor as my mother and I make our November altar is a play about people who are not us but inform us, still, when they’re not flesh but stories in two languages. I want to carry that with me in the work I do."

Like many, I first stepped onstage in a kindergarten Christmas pageant as a nativity star. I uttered one Biblical line in awestruck terror and was smitten. So began my lifelong passion for performance. Acting was a gift, an exciting outlet for expression and escape from a challenging childhood. Repertory in high school. Daring, experimental fringe. Plum roles with regional theaters in Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Chicago. My own company and award-winning plays. Fleeting brushes with Hollywood breaks. But being an unapologetic queer man in a very discriminatory era came at a casting price. In my 30s, my partner and I had the chance to adopt a daughter facing developmental disabilities. I embraced the blessing of fatherhood and tabled my career until she was an adult. I’ve since returned to the stage to some acclaim and have resigned my corporate career to commit myself to finally realizing my potential as an actor.

Thank you for having me, I am so grateful to be here!

I am a giant goofball at heart! A couple fun facts about me: I collect earrings (I have over 500 pairs) and I absolutely love dinosaurs. I view myself as both an artist and a scientist, always honoring my own curiosity and always looking for new ways to grow. I care deeply for the world at large and making a lasting impact is truly meaningful for me. I am a person easily inspired by the warmth and honestly of other people and I thrive when collaborating, laughing and creating art with a diverse, open minded and talented team.

During the day I am a chemical engineer working as the Associate Director of Quality Assurance at Lyell Immunopharma to treat (and hopefully cure) cancer patients. I delight in the challenge of learning new things, and I have found in my biotech and theater careers that I am at my best when I take on enormous challenges and push myself to try something new. I am capable of achieving lofty goals, whether it is troubleshooting a complicated manufacturing process, learning a new language in a month or memorizing 48 pages of monologues for a single role. I love the journey!

To me, getting feedback is a genuine gift and it is the collaboration itself in theater that inspires me the most. As an actor I hope to bring playfulness, curiosity, joy, honesty and compassion to every project. I look forward to my artistic journey and I can't wait to experience the adventures that lie ahead.

Thank you for your consideration!

P.S. I also love "Dad" jokes. What do you call twin dinosaurs?
Pair-odactyls!

Thanks again!

Hi! I'm Emily, I'm an artist, teacher, and community activist who finds a lot of meaning and purpose in striving to make art that is activism. I'm lucky to be a teaching artist at the Seattle Children’s Theatre and the Seattle Repertory Theatre. That theater can be a space for sharing joy, abundance, and truth is what brings me back again and again.

Jonathan M. Rizzardi (they/them) is a Seattle area performing artist and theatre historian. After moving from Washington, D.C. to complete their PhD in Theatre History and Performance Studies at the University of Washington School of Drama where they were a nominee for the 2019 Excellence in Teaching Award, Jonathan has continued to teach youth theatre, act, facilitate educator training programs, and develop social activist-focused curriculum in the Pacific Northwest. A Visiting Assistant Professor of Education at Pacific Lutheran University where they teach instructional methodologies for arts-based, trauma-informed, equity-centered education to future teachers, Jonathan earned their BA and Master of Arts in Teaching at St. Mary’s College of Maryland where they were winner of the Margaret Eagle Dixon Award in Literature and Maryland’s Teachers of Promise distinction.

Jonathan has grown by learning alongside students at Seattle Children's Theatre, Round House Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Imagination Stage, Everyman Theatre, Young Playwrights’ Theater, The Bell Tower Theatre, and as a guest artist in schools across the country. On stage, they have performed with Monumental Theatre Company, Theatre Prometheus, Source, Dacha Theatre, Tenth Muse Productions, Kensington Arts Theatre, Watermelon Inc., IStage, and Round House Theatre.

Rizzardi’s practitioner work extends across fields of youth creative drama, arts integration for mental health and wellness, stewardship for student populations in juvenile detention centers and drug rehabilitation facilities, and creating alongside youth in the foster care system. Their scholarship unpacks how acts of education, maturation, and coming-of-age intersect with theatre and public performance in the early twentieth century United States, and unravels queer readings of teaching and learning as mechanisms of citizen-making in the theatrical past. Jonathan hopes to use theatre performance and scholarship to champion the artistic aspirations of students of all ages, and to create collaborative art that promotes conversation.

Thanks for the opportunity & all of your time/labor, TPS team!
