Hello! I'm Jasmine. I'm a mother, actor, dancer, and former law enforcement officer who has now returned to the Arts. The first half of my video is a dramatic monologue from Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman. This monologue was selected to screen at last year's Seattle Film Summit. The second half of the video is my vocal audition with "Santa Fe" from Disney's The Newsies. I am an alto and 2nd soprano. Not featured in this video is my dancing. Allison Geary is a Seattle-based performer with a BA in Theatre from the University of Washington School of Drama. In this digital submission, she performed a monologue as H from PASSAGE by Christopher Chen and as Mechanic from MIDDLETOWN by Will Eno.

Bio:
Originally from Chicago, she began performing at Infinity Arts Academy, a musical theater conservatory, and since has been seen on stages around Chicago and the Puget Sound area. Highlight credits include Karen in THE CHILDREN'S HOUR (University of Washington), Wednesday Addams in THE ADDAMS FAMILY (The Young Company), Suzzane in PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE (University of Washington), R in PASSAGE (University of Washington), and Cinderella in INTO THE WOODS (Infinity Arts Academy). Allison trained in hand-to-hand stage combat and weapon work, Alexander Technique, Stanislavski Technique, and much more through her studies at The University of Washington School of Drama, Freehold Theatre, and Infinity Arts Academy. She has also received two individual technical choral awards, most recently the Eisenburg Award, a University of Washington Outstanding Student Award. Outside of acting, she works at a technology consulting firm, Accenture. She loves to bake, watch reality TV, travel to new places, and find moments of joy!

All selections were recorded on my phone, with no editing other than for duration. The first one was recorded in a U District church several months ago at a concert I gave as a fundraiser for Ukrainians. The other excerpts were recorded at Pike Market Senior Center, where I was called upon to give a full lunchtime recital with two days' notice a couple of weeks ago -- despite the chaos, the listeners expressed tremendous enthusiasm afterwards!

"To be or not to be"
I am performing a soliloquy by the late, great William Shakespeare. Hamlet expresses his deep despair. He is torn between the desire to end his suffering and the fear of what may come after death. He considers suicide as a way to escape his troubles, but he also recognizes the unknown nature of death and the possibility of facing endless doom.
