American soprano, Hallie Schmidt spent most of her life as a competitive Irish dancer before turning to music. Receiving degrees from Oklahoma City University (Bachelors ’20) and William Jewell College (Artist Diploma ’22), Hallie has performed with Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Seattle Opera, Vashon Opera, Landlocked Opera, Painted Sky Opera, Heartland Opera Theatre, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. Recently, Hallie had a successful summer with Opera Theatre of St. Louis as a Gerdine Young Artist under the direction of soprano Patricia Racette. There she sang First Spirit and covered the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute. Other past roles include La voix humaine (Elle), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Tytania), Die Zauberflöte (Die Königen der Nacht), Cosí fan tutte (Despina), Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna), Elizabeth Cree (Aveline Mortimer), and A Little Night Music (Anne Egerman). Hallie has received numerous awards from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, as well as recognition from the Lotte Lenya Competition, and Hawaii Performing Arts Festivals Classical Voice Competition. Hallie is a native of Olympia, Washington, where she is currently based.
