I memorize very quickly and have understudied several parts successfully with little preparation. In my last show, an actor fell sick hours before curtain, and all the scenes involving this actor had to be re-blocked with lines reassigned to the other two kids in the show. We did it so successfully that people who had seen the show before forgot there was a third kid in it!
