I want to do a song in my audition

Give the auditors more information about yourself.

Hello! My name is Jackie Alves, and I would love the opportunity to take a break from prancing around my living room in order to prance around on stage!

My love affair with theater started at a very young age - after a difficult move from my hometown in Wisconsin to the Pacific Northwest at the age of 8, I started to become shy - VERY shy - PAINFULLY shy. My parents dealt with this shyness by forcing me to audition for Missoula Children's Theater's Pied Piper (which was touring through our town at the time), and it was then that I realized that if I couldn't find my own words to express what I was thinking and feeling, I could borrow the words of a character! Later, I discovered that I could also express my feelings through music (playing the flute), and THEN discovered my love of opera, which allowed me to express myself both through the tune and the lyrics (studying privately from the age of 15 to now; and at Pacific Lutheran University from 2005-2006).

I put my Opera/Theater aspirations on pause after a somewhat traumatizing experience while at PLU (involving developing a vocal node while dealing with the aftermath of my then-boyfriend joining a cult), opting to pursue Psychology at Washington State University - I graduated in 2009; but it was not until somewhat recently that I decided to return to my love of theater and of music! I would love the opportunity to share that love with all of you!
