Give the auditors more information about yourself.

Katya Orlov is a young artist in the Pacific Northwest. Her main artistry lies in acting in all forms. With most of her credits belonging to the stage, she is hoping to expand into the world of film and even voice over. She also has some dance training in her back pocket. With roughly five years of experience this little woman is able to keep up with dancers who have been trained since they were six. Her skill levels vary but you can always count on getting hard work from Katya. That is at the core of her work ethic. No matter what task, big or small, she will put her best foot forward. She recieved her BFA in Musical Theatre at Cornish College of the Arts, graduating in May 2020. Outside of theatre, she is an Event Coordinator at Google where she maintains organization and strength in her team. Although she is based in Seattle, she is from Salem, Oregon and loves the outdoors as any Pacific Northwest resident does. Nature is deeply rooted in her so when she really needs some grounding and refocusing the forest is where she goes. Because she came from a smaller town she values community and trust. She also values love and acceptance and feels that needs to be shown to the rest of the world. Theatre can be such a welcoming community where you can feel like your truest self and spreading that environment out into other aspects of the world is important. Theatre is also a seed for change. It allows for people to see many different perspectives and in her experience, it is how she learned to truly empathize with others and open her mind to new possibilities of life. It is her goal to expand people's points of view and make them question things in their own life. Coming from a Russian-Ukrainian household has rooted her in set ways of acting and even thinking and she has been questioning these ways her whole life. Instead of abiding to these rules or norms she asks why they are the way they are and why she has to follow them. Why am I supposed to think or feel this way when a person acts like this? Why can’t I do the other options? Theatre is an art form that shows you what those other options are and that they are possible, it is one reason why she loves it. Through her ability to step into other people’s circumstances she hopes to spread these ideas. As far as her future goes, she is looking forward to the openness of possibilities as well as being able to tell stories that need to be told. Sharing stories is what brings us together after all.
