Worked as run-crew, costume and professional actor for 7 years at Penobscot Theatre Company in Bangor, Maine, post BA. Began producing short films just before the pandemic while living in Los Angeles.
My acting career has been on hold because my daughter was diagnosed ASD with a Speech Language Processing disorder at 3 years old in the middle of Covid. She is now happy, healthy and thriving so I am very excited to begin acting again. Thank you for your consideration.

I have been directing and performing in Seattle area theaters since 2006. I am a graduate of the Roosevelt High School theatre program under Ruben Van Kempen, and then studied acting methods and film acting at New York Film Academy. In 2009 I co-founded STAGEright Theatre, and we produced 21 shows from 2009-2017. In addition to performing, directing and producing, I'm also a theatrical photographer. I am now working for ~7 different theatres shooting their production photos. I've linked that webpage below.
In recent years I have been had limited time for theatre, due to having a young daughter. She's getting older now and it's easier for me to commit to projects, and I'm excited to return. This year I'm hoping to move my focus more toward dramatic plays and less musicals. Scene study
and deep text analysis is my jam, and I have accepted an understudy role in RED at Burien Actors Theatre in April. I think it will be a great step in the right direction.

Jessica Marvin-Romero (she/her) is a lesbian Mexican-American actress and poet. Having graduated from Temple University with a degree in theatre and an English minor, she is informed by the boundlessness of language as it works in storytelling and as a conduit for the things we must futilely attempt to translate for others from nothing more than a feeling in the bones. Interested in bilingual works, as well as those with poetic influence, Marvin-Romero strives to create theatre which brings Latine folks, queer people, and gender minorities to the forefront. She states, "As an artist, I’ve long been exploring how we go away from ourselves to then be able to come back. How hearing my aunts giggling over coffee in my grandmother’s kitchen is a play I got to watch every summer. How looking at photographs on the living room floor as my mother and I make our November altar is a play about people who are not us but inform us, still, when they’re not flesh but stories in two languages. I want to carry that with me in the work I do."

My father was a Marine, so we moved a few times. Most of my childhood was in Maryland. I loved insects, dinosaurs, & Marvel comic books.
We moved to Seattle when my father retired, & I have lived here since. I worked as a directory assistance operator, built kayaks, & pounded rivets for Boeing before going back to school to get my BS in Biology. A friend was directing a production of “As You Like It”, & invited me to play my pennywhistle as accompaniment to the songs in that play. I loved it, especially being part of the storytelling. Other directors invited me into their plays, eventually giving me parts with lines. Thus I became an actor. I had to stop for several years for personal reasons, but now am free to pursue that love of storytelling again.

I developed an interest in acting a little over five years ago! I was an equestrian at the time, and I felt that I was spending too much time at the barn and not enough time searching for what else makes me happy. Working professionally in the entertainment industry was something that was constantly on my mind. So, I made the decision to quit riding and get proper training in front of the camera.
Since that first day in class I have not stopped my training, and my determination to make a change in this industry has only grown stronger.
